I hope you will enjoy yourself… I guess this will be the typical stuff reviews, rants, and the like. However, I hope that I can bring some different ideas and viewpoints. So let me tell you a little bit about me and state my reasons for creating another site and another blog. First the title– Unsanitary Jesus. I cannot claim to have originated the moniker andit was not given to me but a friend. But in college a group of us were on a road-trip from Birmingham to Chicago when we had car trouble and wound up at a truck stop in Nowheresville, Tennessee. It was 3 in the morning and we had been stuck in the rain and all nasty. So we went into the restroom to clean up as we were leaving, one of the truckers mentioned a shaggy fellow from our group remarking that he looked like Jesus. The other trucker without missing a beat added,"Yeah, an unsanitory Jesus though…" Needless to say that member was dubbed withthat nickname. I like that nickname… The Bible says that goal for all of us is to be transformed into image of Christ. In fact Adam and Eve in the garden were said to be created in the Imageo Deo (the image of God). The Fall has marred that image. In a sense we are all poor mirrors of our Father. Threadbare, worn-out, frazzled representations. We are dirty, unclean, and sick. That is the bad news. The Good News is that through the work of His Son and His spirit, our Father is working to pick us up, dust us off, and clean us up. Someday, maybe soon, we will once again truly reflect our Father's glory, until then we are all just unsanitary jesuses. Join me in this journey, as we become the men and women we were meant to be.-
